Tacugama Sets for Significant Transformation as the Construction of an Innovation Center Commences
In an ambitious stride toward establishing Sierra Leone as a leading hub for educational tourism, Tacugama Sanctuary is poised for a remarkable transformation as plans unfold for the construction of an avant-garde innovation centre. This centre, boasting features such as an auditorium, a greenhouse, a bird-watching tower, and a funicular, signifies a significant leap forward in enhancing Tacugama’s profile and offerings.
Made possible through funding from the World Bank Group (WBG) as part of the Sierra Leone Economic Diversification Project (SLEDP), this initiative also encompasses the development of a botanical garden adjacent to the existing sanctuary.
The inaugural technical meeting with K5 Construction, the contracted firm, has been convened, with a focus on addressing environmental, health, and safety considerations, as well as laying the groundwork for material procurement and mobilization.
Anticipated for completion by September of the ensuing year, this construction project heralds a new era of growth and innovation for Tacugama Sanctuary and its surrounding community.
